I'm interested in using the internet to sell a training program that I'm developing. What is the best way to prepare downloadable materials, such as the training manual, a business parable, handouts, and a PowerPoint presentation, that would be used by a trainer during training sessions? Is there a way to prepare or format these kinds of items that would allow purchasers to download all materials electronically, and still technically protect the items from simply being copied or forwarded to others who haven't purchased them? Are there companies that specialize in this sort of thing, and if so, where can I find them? Are there any you would recommend? Thanks!
First worry about making the sales. Very very few people are going to bother to copy and distribute your material unless there is a ready market for them (as in popular computer games that get pirated on put on warez sites). These game designers have to worry about piracy because their games have brands (millions are waiting for the next Sims product). People looking for pirated versions will flock to warez sites to try to steal a download.
For a an unbranded product like yours - don;t worry. There is no way around piracy. Even if you password protect your product, someone determined to share it with a friend will forward it along with the password.
Treat these as a compliment on the quality of your product and focus on getting sales instead.
But if you do want an ebook software with password protection: Try this http://ebook.generatorsoftware.com/ebookindex2.html?code=S01
