    I'm the developer of a software tool for Windows that watches websites and blogs for changes. Not only RSS feeds (does them too), but also ordinary sites with no feeds.

    It can be used for a myriad of things, like watching your competitors website, monitoring job listings, monitoring if your own website is online and if it has been hacked etc.

    My problem is that nobody searches directly for a tool like this. I get low traffic even though I have Adwords ads for all keywords related to website watching, website monitoring etc. Good thing is that people love it when they try it. It's like it solves a need they didn't know they had until they try my product.

    How would you market such a product?

    Can you share what the product is? How much does it cost? Is there a way to try it for free?

    I can definitely see this type of tool being very useful. Perhaps you can also think of an affiliate relationship and find related products and services that might like to recommend this product to their customers in exchange for a commission. I am also thinking that your suggested keywords are not broad enough. Other potential keywords could be:

    - tracking (website tracking, web site tracking)
    - competitors (e.g. competitor tracking tool)

    I would also think of a way to make your product spread virally. In other words, if your customers love your product, how can you get them to share it with others?

    sure, the product is UpdatePatrol (http://www.updatepatrol.com) and it sells for $49.95. A Pro version is underway that will sell for $89.95 or $99.95.

    My keywords are pretty broad and does include tracking, watching, monitoring etc.

    I do have an affiliate program (default commission 35% but negotiable) though my ecommerce provider, but I'm thinking of signing up with ClickBank to give them a try.

    The viral thing is definately something I'd think about. It's just figuring out the right way to do it.. :-)
