I have no list, and want to build one. Search engines don\'t know I exist. I\'m working on an article writing campaign for submission to article directories to change my traffic situation (the articles will do double duty as content for my WordPress powered website). I know my article resource box is likely the key element to bring traffic, but it seems like Catch 22. Can you offer any suggestions concerning a resource box for someone in this circumstance?

My personal take is that article writing is becoming obsolete. The better way these days (with the advent of Web 2.0) is to go for a niche blog and gain a reputation as an expert in a niche field.

The blog allows you the same sort of search engine traffic potential as articles. But the blog allows people to subscribe to your writing via RSS feeds, and email (with the Zookoda blog email service). It also gives fans of your writing a chance to find all your articles in a given place and allows them to comment on articles.

Blogs are also search engine friendly by nature of their very design.

Furthermore, you can use Technorati Tags and Social Discovery sites like Digg, Blinklist and Reddit to source traffic.

You mentioned wordpress, so I see you're thinking of a blog. But I do hope you're considering the tactic above in additon to posting to article directories (which I believe are becoming an obsolete medium on the web).

As for your question on article resource boxes...can you clarify what you're reffering to and what Catch 22 you mean?
  1.
I've had a lot of success with article marketing, but also it's because my articles are well optimized. I've noticed huge spikes in sales after submitting a single article optimized for a highly searched term i.e. more than 80,000 a month. If a single article article submission can double my sales within 2 weeks of submission, imagine if I were to multiply the impact with more articles revolving around the same topic.

i guess the problem I see with the blog thing is that the visitor can get ALL your
    content at 1 time...

How are you able to followup with them like you would via autoresponder?

with the autoresponder you only get that specific newsletter, whereas with the blog they
have immediate access to all your stuff.
