Just about to completely revamp the website www.microbric.com and wanted some general direction on what works best.
I want to build the site so that when people look at the site they think "i want one of those (or two)" and get their credit card out and order, either from us or a stockist. I know every one wants the same thing :) It would be great to get some direction from the professionals.
ok - for that "i want one of those (or two)" - make it easier for people to see what the product does.
On the main page do this:
1. Use embedded Youtube videos directly on the page. They load fast and will make it more likely that people will watch your videos. Do not require people to click on a banner to launch the video in a separate player. (do not use anything except Youtube - there's a reason Google bought them for 1.6 billion).
2. Extend the copy on your main page. Long copy with testimonials, headlines, endorsements always work better than short copy that requires the user to click on images and buttons to explore around your site.
For an example site that uses long copy and video very effectively - see this: www.TheOfficialSecretSeminar.com I'm designing this right now for Bob Proctor. The copy uses 2 videos and extends into 29 pages to sell a $1700 seminar course.
I have put the video into youtube and shown it from the top of the front page. I will need to do some editing of the video, as youtube makes the halfway point of the video your preview screenshot.
I will get around to putting some comments from magazine reviews etc on the front page as well as some customer feedback.
