I have a new company and product (talking first aid kit). think-safe.com Nothing like it on the market. I have done google and yahoo keyword ads with no success. \"first aid\" related words (pricey)

I think you need to figure out who your target audience is. Who is the intended buyer?

I am asking because I am in the mindset of buying a first aid kit that costs around $50 and when I ended up on your page, I learned that the costs are way higher. So, I was immediately turned off. I also wonder why I should bother spending so much more money on it. The benefits are obvious, but I feel that the website could use more work on helping people find that information sooner. We have learned that most users prefer to scroll vs. click to navigate a site and your home page does not offer much information just a navigation menu. I could not even find a product details page for any of the products.

The fact that your product is more expensive works in your favor because you can afford to spend more on pay-per-click but you need to get your conversion rate up first. Given how unique your product is, I think you might need to focus a lot more on educating the buyer.

You also asked about other channels. First, I would find niche markets where people would love to have a better first aid kit. It seems that your offering is not mass market so I would figure out who you target and how / where to reach them and then partner with those sites and distribution channels.

    Hope that helps a little.

For a new product like this using Google and Yahoo PPC advertising is tough. No one is looking for it since it's new.

So you'll need to experiment with targeted advertising on sites that are frequented by potential buyers.

Let's say, you product is highly attractive to parents of young children that get cuts and bruises easily.

Find out what sites/blog these parents frequent. And advertise on these sites or strike a partnership.

Here is a list of potential sites targeting parents:

    http://www.blogtopsites.com/parents/

Here's how to approach these sites on the cheap. Send them an email and politely ask if they would be willing to write a review of your software if you shipped them a free copy. Keep the email short and sweet.

-------------- SAMPLE EMAIL TO BLOGGER ---------------------

Hi there, {BLOGGER NAME GOES HERE},

My name is _______. I'm a toy inventor.

I enjoyed your last post about ___________and read your blog often.

I make software for children to allow them to ______________. I was wondering if you'd be interested in testing and reviewing our software
if I sent you a free copy. I'm not looking for a long review...just an honest one.

If this interests you - drop me a line and I'll respond.

    Keep up the Good Posts!

    {YOUR NAME}

    ----------------------------------

Now if this does not work...you can try buying ads. Use a service like Adbrite.com to buy ads on people's or sites.

Look into Adbrite and you'll see that they allow you to select sites that might fit your target demographic.

Another way....if this is a truly unique product - write an interesting article on it and promote it like crazy on sites like Reddit.com or Digg.com. You might get a few thousand visitors for cheap.
