I just published this site about a month ago and have had only a couple visitors and NO sales. Can you take a look at it and advise me what I can do to improve and also how I can increase traffic. Thanks in advance. www.theanimalshoppe.com
The first question that came to my mind when looking at your site is: Why should I buy from you? What makes your site different from other sites? If that question is not answered, most customers will just go to another bigger more established player.
In regards to getting traffic to your site, there is not one easy answer. If you want to focus on SEO then you will need to start generating unique content on a continuous basis. For PPC you will need to boost your conversion rate so that you can afford to compete with the best.
One big missing item is the lack of an "about us" section. I would personally never buy from a faceless site. That is just too scarry. Building traffic and sales takes a long-time and there is no quick way to riches. It's not easy but if you stick with it, you can get very far over time! I suggest you start reading up on internet marketing and ecommerce and start experimenting.
I'm a pet lover so I enjoyed browsing your site. The problem you have is lack of brand recognition and traffic. When I want books I think Amazon. When I want tech stuff, I think Newegg.com. But for pets --- no one thinks of you.
What you need to do is target people at the point of search. For example...my Dog has a serious dandruff issue. I need a solution quick. So I get online and google "dandruff on dogs" or any other combination of keywords that includes dogs and dandruff.
Well you want to buy ads that target that keyword. The ad should say something relevant like "Cure Your Dog's Dandruff" so I'm more likely to click on it.
Now when I click on your ad - don't take me to your main page. Too much stuff. Take me to a landing page that shows me one or two products that cure doggy dandruff. See how these guys are doing it: http://stores.naturaldogshampoo.com/StoreFront.bok
Now - you're found a guy with a problem. And you've got a solution. I'm much more likely to buy.
This simple process will get you the sales you need. You'll need to invest time writing those Google ads but it's well worth. A good ad can last you years.
To further improve your site...offer a way for visitors to stay in touch. Write a monthly newsletter for example on Dog care. Newsletters are a wonderful way to bring customers back over and over again and see recurring and repeat sales.
OK, I've listened you your suggestions and have made some changes. Could you please take another look and see if I'm on the right tract. Or what do I need to do to improve. Thanks so much for your help.
