Is it just me... I don't think so... :-) I find this tool to be perpetually busy. I.e., it's rare that I get any results, other than a message that the server is too busy. Can you suggest an alternative? Thanks!
Yes I can! Definitely use www.wordtracker.com. It is NOT a free tool but one day access costs less than $10 and if you are focused you can get everything done in one day. Or, buy access for a week. If you are serious about going online, then don't be cheap. Invest a little bit of money and save yourself all the trouble and headaches that Overture Keyword Selector will cause.
I started using Wordtracker about 2 years ago and it is my favorite tool to discover great keywords or PPC and for SEO.
Thanks, Mike. I appreciate the advice. I've been struggling with the idea of purchasing a keyword analysis tool, but obviously, your advice is to simply go with wordtracker, as opposed to one of the desktop choices, yes?
Yes, I recommend to go with www.wordtracker.com. They have been the leader in the field for a long time and they are super fast and efficient. To tell you the truth, using WordTracker is one of the ways I build awesome keyword lists in absolutely no time. Why people waste hundreds of dollars on Google AdWords and get burnt but don't invest less than $10 to quickly build a list with WordTracker beats me. It is so much better than any of the free tools out there. It will save you time and money in the long-run.
For a quick look at finding niches and what people are searching for, the free tools are easiest. Since Yahoo is dying, another new one is http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html
A really great tool for finding niches and competition information is KeywordCountry. My link to them is http://affiliatetracking.com/keywordcountry/a/start/e/11 watch the video at their site and you'll see that it does a LOT.
I forgot to add... I wrote an interface to Google Suggest that gives you a lot of keyword variations (unlike related keywords). Can you give me some feedback on the program? It's at http://tools.zinnia.org
The free tool that you wrote at http://tools.zinnia.org is very cool. How do you grab so many suggestions from Google Suggest? Is that via the Google API?
No, I didn't use the API. I used their AJAX interface to repeatedly get what they give each time, changing the suffix characters for each call. Of course, you could go really deep with that, but I limited it to varying only 2 characters on the end for each call because it takes awhile and I wanted to be able to group the data returned.
